For me, getting over the hurt of my violins being taken and actually exploring getting another violin has been a challenge. Realizing that I can play music that I like, not just what is in the curriculums, is crucial, too. I will probably have to alternate between curriculum progression and pleasure music to some extent. Thinking more flexibly helps.

My biggest obstacle to re-learning the violin, is my fingers have become sausages in 40+ years 🙂 When I was a kid in elementary school, learning the viola, I didn’t have a problem with catching adjacent strings with my fingers. Now I have a problem just pressing one string at a time. The viola was a bit wider in the neck than the violins I have now.
