It was hard to keep track of everything when I was looking at 7 violins on home trial as well as 6 bows.Does anyone have advice on how to test a bow and what one is to look for?

A part of it is individual preference

Actuall when I purchased my first one I had no idea what I was looking for- I thought it had to do with price! Well I found out I was dead wrong on that! After purchasing a bow from Muchael I am learning and also learning there is a difference in bows

Since I have learned a little I look for the sound it produces and how easy it glides across the strings and how much pressure I née on the bow

I had a teacher for a short time that told me I need to put the fiberglass one away and get a Brazil wood bow. I followed her advice and I love it to this day. It cost me $165.

I’ve been using a carbon fiber bow for a little while, but I would really like to switch to a pernambuco. The one’s I’ve played on sound amazing! Other than that, I don’t know much about selecting a bow. I’d just pick the one I think sounds the best.

I have a carbon fiber bow: very responsive. As I get more experience, I may wantva different one, but right now, it works for me.
