My teacher here in town told me that “intonation” refers to being able to make the right notes with your left hand, and “nuance” refers to bowing. does anyone have any elaboration on this? I just read a post about intonation on this forum (just do a search and you will find it) and would love to hear more about his. My teacher is a man of few words!

I think he is referring to the timbre or colour of the sound. Like the right hand is in charge of everything except pitch. So, You can make everything sound really gritty, or sweet. As well as smooth and connected, or staccato.
