I mainly play violin and viola, but very often, I’ll pull out my cello and play Bach’s “Suite No. 1 I just LOVE how it sound! But what REALLY fascinates me is how the low C growls compared to the viola’s C
I’ve been playing more violin and viola the last couple years, especially now that I’m teaching a strings class. Used to play upright bass in college (in the wind ensemble, and later in new music ensemble), but it’s been decades.
I started on the piano as a child. I played flute and violin in high school. I loved the violin better than flute because the violins didn’t have to march at the football games or in parades. The band always followed the horses in the parades. Not good. Now I’m learning the cello.
Aside from cello, I play piano (and dabble with pennywhistle). I’ve been playing piano for 6 or 7 years now. I really enjoy it (my family says it’s my “first love”). My favorite composer is Scott Joplin. I LOVE ragtime on the piano! The rag I’m currently working on is the Maple Leaf Rag.
