    Will, it does seem that gold incirporated into strings or rosin is supposed to give a richer, more mellow sound

    Have you ever heard of rubbing some lead – like from the point of a pencil- into the grooves on the bridge when your changing your strings? Seems like it was to help keep a smooth, slick surface in that groove when you tighten down and tune the strings.

    I have heard of it. Couldn’t hurt if you were careful
