    Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if there is any special instructions or advice when it comes to cleaning and tuning the violin? I am new to the violin and always wanted to learn how everyone keeps their violin in top shape. Any advice would be wonderful and I wish everyone the best in their violin playing.
    Thank you so much

I have a cloth I got with my violin that I use to wipe the violin strings and under them after playing to remove residual rosin. Not sure using wood cleaner is a good idea. I keep my violin and bow in it’s case to protect them which also keeps dust etc from them.Hope that helps..I used to play decades ago in school and this month I’ve picked it up and am starting from the beginning. I’m, having lots of fun!

You don’t want to put any cleaner or polish on your violin. It will usually make it sticky, and possibly ruin the varnish or the wood. This can affect the instrument’s sound as well. The best thing to do is keep a soft, clean cloth in your case or nearby, and gently wipe down the strings and violin top after playing. If the instrument is in bad condition, or the finish needs some tlc, it’s best to take it to a professional luthier for cleaning and polishing.

I just wipe it with microfiber cloth, those that come with tvs and such. There are special products for more thorough cleanups though.
