Anyone know of movies featuring violins? I know of The Red Violin and there must be others.

One of my favorite scenes involving violins is in the comedy Head Office (1985) with Judge Reinhold where an egomanic corporate owner (played by Eddie Albert) plays a Stradivarius. That clip from the movie is available on youtube.

Anyone have any other movie suggestions?

I have watched lots of movies where a violinist is depicted. One recent, good example, is The Devil’s Violinist, which is a spin off of the life story of Italian violinist and composer, Niccolò Paganini. It’s pretty good, because the violinist is really playing. The actor is David Garrett, who apparently has a very interesting life story himself. I found a bio of him here. Bio of David Garrett, violinist.

I cringe most often when movies depict musicians, even singers, and especially violinists who are fake playing. It seems to me they could take some lessons to at least get the hand positions correct! Your posted led me to a google search, where I found SO MANY movies that look GREAT, that I want to watch them ALL.

    Movies that portray violinists!
