Hi everybody, I started playing the violin a couple of days after this website got launched. I was so glad I found this website, because it gave me a structured way to start. I learned all the beginner songs that are available on this website with the help of Michael’s videos and attended several webinars. This month I’ve been practicing the piece Gavotte from Suzuki Book 2, which I really enjoyed. You can’t really see it because my face looks very serious in the video… but I really like this song. Please let me know what I can do to improve. Would appreciate it very much! 🙂

    Wow! You’ve much improved!
If I were to offer anything of use I would say… try doing something to relax your bowing arm. I like to shake-out both arms before I start playing… and when I catch my hands/arms beginning to tense up, I’ll shake ’em out again.

Hi Will! thanks for your reply, I’m glad you like it. 🙂 Thanks for your suggestion. “Shake ’em out” is indeed a good way to relax the arms and hands. I especially need it for my left hand, it always gets tense…

Hi Michaella, thanks for commenting on my video! I’m glad you like it 🙂 Sadly, I don’t know much about my violin. The label says “Stradivarius Copy – Max Bruch” and it is a beginner violin, not very expensive. I did some research about my violin but couldn’t find much about it. What I did find, I wrote down in my violin diary here http://www.violinadventures.com/2015/12/17/stradivarius-copy-max-bruch/
How long have you been playing Michaella?

Holding your instrument properly is important, but try to not stiffen up. It leads to a gnawing pain in your shoulderblades and neck 🙂
Am understanding you are teaching yourself strictly from what you learn online? No formal lessons, private or in school? I’m impressed! Good job, I can see you are motivated!!!

Hi Mona, thanks for your feedback! You’re right, I should try not to stiffen up. I’m still searching for the best posture…
I have no formal lessons, I only learn from Youtube videos and websites. I did however play clarinet before, so reading music etc is no problem. So, I didn’t have to start from scratch. And yes, I am very motivated!!! I really LOVE the violin!

I watched both your 6 month and 7 month videos and I can definitely see improvement between the two. Keep up the great work.
