This is a technique that takes very good right hand technique. It is definitely possible, and highly recommended once you get to a certain point. Everything that I teach early on that is important with left and right hand technique really shows its true colors when you are combining both double stops and vibrato together. There is a lot I could say to give tips about it, but basically for you beginner/intermediate players out there, you have to really focus on your fundamentals to have a good chance to make this work later.

Is there a specific way to learn how to double stop? Are there any drills you could recommend, that I can download or print out to learn how to double stop?

I did over 30 videos at Wiley that are associated with my Fiddle for Dummies book. I actually did one that was really good on double stops.
