Do any of you fiddlers play without any vibrato at all??? or do you add just a little wiggle. I am in the early stages of trying to learn vibrato so that I can make some of the longer notes more pleasing and am having a hard time of it.

I do play fiddle with a dulcimer band, and yes I do use vibrato!

I compete in a lot of fiddlers’ competitions, and vibrato is almost a necessity if you want to win.

I have been wondering this as well. I have only been playing for about a year and just recently started to attempt using vibrato. It really does make a huge difference on the slower tunes though.

Vibrato is always useful, especially for waltzes and such.

Yes the slower tunes really benefit from vibrato so I will keep trying and eventually I will get it.
