    I have not been able to play my violin in a couple of months. I tried tuning it and it seems that by the time I tune the E string, all of the other strings are out of tune ?. Does anyone know why this would be happening?

    Are your tuning pegs slipping? Mine kept slipping making it hard for me to tune. I took mine in to a music shop to find out why;

    they put some peg paste on and showed me how to push turn to get it to seat correctly.

    If you don’t push into the peg box as you tune, you will find that other strings can easily get out of tune. I would suggest watching this video which explains the concept: http://violintutorpro.com/learn-to-tune-and-place-fingers-down/

    If that doesn’t work, you can get a peg glue that can drip on each peg and make them very sticky. I don’t recommend this unless you know for sure it isn’t the technique of tuning that is giving you trouble.

    Hahaha the first time I tried to tune my violin was when I was 10… and I snapped the D string and broke the A tuning peg whoops! And to make the situation even more worse, it was a rented violin hehe. But now I’ve learnt how to actually tune with pegs and fine tuners!
