i always take pieces really hard for me because i find them beautifull, and i am not interested in easy pieces how can i find a good balance in choosing pieces to work on?

I like music that makes me stretch.

I like to try and find a performance a little above my current level, but not enough to be frustrating. It seems all the “easy” books are at the frustrating level. I showed my teacher one of the “easy” books I had bought, and he said they would be too hard for some of his intermediate students. I’m not really sure how beginners, like me, are supposed to find good supplemental material.

I would rather work on something that I would love to learn even if it is hard than something that is too easy. I like the challenge of working through things. So if I were you I would just pick what you want to learn and then learn the basic melody and add ornaments at a later date if that is what you would like to do.
