So my violin teacher has me working on Kayser Etude No. 19 and it’s almost all tremolo. She says to use a finger-wrist stroke for it, basically just wagging the wrist back and forth, kind of like waving. The concept isn’t hard, but I find that it’s sloppy and inconsistent. I haven’t been able to find too many videos that really talk about it more than just describing it as very fast, short bow changes. So I’m wondering if anyone has any tips or exercises that could be used to develop the technique. Easily one of my biggest faults as a student is impatience, so maybe I just have to get used to the “waving” motion and allow control and consistency to develop. Any help is appreciated of course!!
