Has anyone dealt with tendinitis after too much practice? Any way of healing it besides cutting back on practice time and the movements that hurt? Pretty sure it is tendinitis not arthritis.

My problem was more with left hand on piano but affects my violin playing, too. Finally realized what I was doing that aggravated it and working to avoid falling back to bad habits that then cause flare ups. My teacher was not able to spot the problem, but I figured it out through some finger exercises. At first I thought it might just be over practicing. No lasting improvement happened even with resting it, until the cause was found.

I know someone who has had tendinitis in the left wrist. I think it’s a common injury for violinists. He wore a brace when he wasn’t playing and went to therapy for it. While it is great that you have found a better way of playing to lessen your pain, you should probably still seek the advice from a therapist/physician.
