    The first thing you should have learned on the Twinkle Variations is the open ended staccato bow stroke. Anyone can put the bow on the string and move it. Stopping it gracefully is the hard part.

    The staccato stroke should start with a slight ‘bite’ or ‘K’ sound and ring at the end.

    I discuss the Twinkle Variations and how the staccato bow stroke should be emphasized throughout Suzuki Book I.
