Having played both in symphonic settings and chamber groups, I have found that playing in a string quartet has the advantage of instilling confidence in my playing. Since each quartet member has to carry their part alone and that their individual mistakes stand out more than when playing in a section, the ability to do successfully carry one’s part provides greater personal satisfaction than playing in a larger ensemble. The first time I played first violin in a quartet for a music contest this thought hit me and the fact that our quartet received a high score reinforced this feeling.

I would love to find a quartet to play in here east of Phoenix, Arizona in Mesa.
