Hi, all. My name is Jill, but I go by “Blueroseviolin.” That evolved from my two loves, blue roses (I have collected them since reading “The Glass Menagerie” in high school, and the violin. I have been playing since I was 4. I am passionate about performing for Holocaust-related events and the Jewish High Holy Days, as well as responding to the needs of others who seek either solace or celebration from music (memorial services, weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, etc.). Recently, I suffered severe injuries to my left hand, which needed four pins through my ring and pinky fingers, as well as a broken rib on my right side. I have a performance coming up at the end of January for the International Holocaust Commemoration Day at the Italian Consulate in Ybor City, Florida. I am a bit nervous about being rehabilitated enough by then! My instrument is from Junior High School and its quality is disappointing, so I will be using an electric violin which will connect into their sound system. For the first hour of the event, I will play unaccompanied, and end with the theme from Schindler’s List, which I have a play-along CD for. During the candle lighting ceremony, I will be accompanied by a pianist. We will be playing “Jerusalem of Gold.” We won’t have an opportunity to rehearse, so it should be quite interesting!

Hi Jill and welcome! That’s amazing that you perform! Especially for Holocaust related events. I hope one day to hear some of your work!

Thank you! Here is part of last year’s performance:

Let me know what you think! I definitely need an instrument that projects better…I used an electric violin for this.
