    Ok, So i bought new strings for my violin and put them on about a week ago – how long before they are broken in and the squeak dies down??

    Which brand ar ethe strings? I have never experienced new strings squeaking. Actually its reverse. When you apply the new set of strings they will provide you better sound quality than before.

    thanks for the info – bought a new bow and apparently that was the problem. It all sounds good now!! Yeah!! 🙂 I asked about the strings because I had read somewhere that you have to break in new strings – I’m a newbie to the violin world, learning all I can!!

    My new strings usually stop stretching after 2 or 3 days.
