How long was it before you felt you had an okay understanding of the violin and comfortable with your sound?

It probably took me months- first of all in the beginning I had terrible pain in my left arm and right shoulder- from using muscles I had never used-that gets better after a while but still occasionally I get pain.As for my sound- i am still after 3 years not that comfortable-First i used the finger tape but when I bought newer ones left it off-I still have problems hitting and hearing the right note but is better- I have played in front of an audience but know I did terrible!! Violin is just such a tedious instrument but I have the desire to learn it and you can’t be in a hurry to learn- that is hard for me because I get impatient!

I don’t know that I’ve ever been comfortable. Always striving for better sound and intonation! As an adult restarting, I have to fight those old tendencies and celebrate progress, focus on the positive and be more patient with myself. Also having to gain stamina for the energy to practice and fight anxiety because of my self criticism. After 2 1/2 months, I am seeing some progress.

I’m still not comfortable. Due to medical reasons, I haven’t been able to practice as much as I should. I still feel awkward practicing. I wonder if I’ll ever get over it.

I’m often comfortable playing, but not nearly comfortable often enough with the results
