Anybody ever feel like you have reached your maximum potential? This defintey inhibits progress. How do you get around this frame of mind?

I call ’em a plateau. Just like physical growth spurts, between those spurts are times when growth seems to stop. With learning to play violin we reach those plateaus and it seems that we are making no progress… but as I like to say… This too shall pass, and in time we begin another spurt. Patience, Deliberate and mindful Practice and Discipline are what it takes to “weather” the plateaus. I’m getting over one that lasted several weeks, although my violin teacher disagrees. She only sees me once a week, so I guess I am not hearing the difference because I hear me every practice day.

She recommends that I record myself once a month and review the past performance and compare it to the more recent performance.
