Hi everyone! My name is Mary Hegeman. I’m 58 and I live in Central Missouri, halfway between Kansas City and St. Louis. I started taking lessons from Michael in January 2013. It was my New Year’s resolution to learn to play the violin. I couldn’t read music, I had absolutely, positively no musical experience. But I always loved the sound and the look of a violin. So I got a starter violin, a Cremona, from Amazon and started practicing. I immediately sold that violin and bought a Rosalia from Michael. My next and current violin is a Romano, which is now called a Elisa Damiano, also purchased from Superior Violins. All I lack is talent. 🙂

So even though I started learning the violin in January of ’13, I confess I haven’t picked it up in quite a while. I’m happy to try out Michael’s new site with you!

Welcome to the Violin Tutor Pro forum Mary! We have a very similar story. I started playing the violin 1.5 years ago and I had zero music background; I am 53. I had the Rosalia also and traded it up for the Elda Marina, I love that violin!

Talent comes with time…I think we all have talent…it is just digging it out of ourselves. 😉 I know I won’t ever be a “concert” violinist…but I am okay with that…I am happy to just improve on a daily basis and learn to play songs I like.

If you want a violin partner to help you stay motivated, let me know 🙂
