    Hello all (and fiddlers especially)!

I play fiddle in the Boston area, mainly bluegrass, oldtime, Irish, New England, and Western Swing styles. With my family (all traditional musicians), I run the yearly Fiddle Hell Massachusetts weekend every November, with 200+ workshops and jams across a lot of styles, for beginners through advanced players. We have a Facebook group by the same name if you’re interested.

I don’t have much time for fiddle teaching these days (because of my day job), but have written a few fiddle books for Mel Bay Publications, such as “Oldtime Fiddling Across America.”

I’m happy to contribute my thoughts on questions about bowing, fiddle styles, improvisation, jamming, learning by ear, and so on.

    Warmly,
    Dave Reiner

Howdy Dave, Welcome to the group! My grampa passed down to me a few tunes to play on the fiddle.
