Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Kim, I’m a Floridian 🙂 and I’m as new as one can get to the violin. I love all sorts of music, but I’m partial to classical music ( especially when stressed out! or when I’m painting pictures) and the violins in it always stood out to me but it never occurred to me to try to learn how to play until recently. When it did dawn on me to try it I was overwhelmed and so excited about it that I almost feel called to learn it. It seems to be such an expressive instrument. I’ve played the guitar for years, but I’ve only learned how to play songs on it, I don;t really know how to play a guitar. I always seems to tense up …….. a habit that has never left me after 20+ years of playing and when your tense you cannot be expressive. From my understanding the violin requires relaxation, otherwise if you have tension in your hand all you will produce is screeching, scratching sounds and a bow that will bounce like a Mexican jumping bean. So hopefully I will be forced to relax while playing and maybe one day that will carry over into playing the guitar as well. Wish me luck 🙂

Hey guys I’m new to this as well! I’ve played the viola for 8 years now and am interested in learning the violin. My orchestra teacher introduced me to this website and I couldn’t be happier!
