I travel every Saturday to rehearse with an amateur orchestra, and that is fine. Several Sundays I also join up for an impromptu fiddle jam – all n00bs.

But I’m considering putting together a small group, in my neighborhood. I just have no idea how to even get started. I’m sure I’d be able to find at least three more adults who play at my level.

Have any of you tried this? How did you go about doing it?

I would live to do this, too. I live in a rural area, & can’t seem to find anyone to oractice with in a small group of 2-3.

I want to do that also. I live in Mesa, Arizona if anyone is out this way.

This is probably a terrible place to look for people in your area. The reason is not that there’s something wrong with the VTP forums, but that there aren’t enough people here.

I am a member of a FB group called “Adult Starters Violin/Fiddle” and we did a meetup of *everyone* in the Salt Lake City area – all six of us, and that included a fellow from Evanston! There were two more who couldn’t make it, but the point is, the metropolitan area includes at least a million people, and it’s evident that most of the fiddlers in the area are not even on FB looking for a violin meetup.

And if I’m looking to form a very local group – everyone living in walking distance – that’s definitely not the recipe.

Hmoulding, if you could put in a good word for me, I would appreciate it. Would love to join the page. I am H Duane Lucy in Facebook. My status is pending.

I used to live in SLC.
