I have D’Addario Helicore strings at the moment and I like them. They produce a good sound. But Dominant is definitely the way to go.They produce a rich and full sound.

So far, I’ve tried Prelude and Dominant. Dominant is currently my favorite, but I haven’t tried a lot.

I have Dominant strings on my Damiano and they go together well, so when I bought replacement strings to have on hand, I just got another set of Dominants. Have not tried the others…

I’d love to offer you some advice. However, the question is a bit broad. Dominant is a specific type of string made by the Thomastik company, whereas D’Addario is a company that makes many different types of strings, each with specific characteristics. If you’re looking for something on a competitive playing field with Dominants, I know many folks choose D’Addario Zyex strings. Both strings have a synthetic core (nylon-like material that imitates gut), as well as a nice, projecting tone. Their Pro Arte strings are also synthetic, but are known to have a warmer tone and softer feel under the fingers, but with less projection. An added bonus is that they’re also less expensive than both Zyez and Dominant/ Does this clarify, or can I help in other ways?
