Hi, my teacher recently told me that many professionals don’t use the shoulder rest, but I’m more confortable with it. What do you think about?

    Thanks in advance

Definitely. I don’t feel like I can take my hands off my instrument without it.

I definitely use one! I love the Kun brand, and am currently using an Everest shoulder rest!

But many professionals use shoulder rests too, I use a Kun shoulder rest and it is very comfortable.

Does anyone have a recommendation for the best online selection and prices for a shoulder rest? Not sure what I want to get, but needs to have a good cushion, height adjustment, be stable and not interfere with the instrument’s sound…

I have one but I don’t use it. All my teachers encouraged me to use one, but I think I feel better without a shoulder rest.

I have never used one. When I try it feels very unnatural. I notice most everyone in my orchestra does. Maybe I just haven’t found the right one yet.

I didn’t in high school and for a few years in college but I’ve now found a shoulder rest I really love! I usually play with a wooden Mach One shoulder rest; it has a good ergonomic design while maintaining a firmness I’d grown accustomed to in my years without it. It’s definitely a good idea to keep using one if you’re comfortable with it!

It’s always been really difficult and uncomfortable for me to play without one!
