Thanks for the comments. Yes! Use the whole bow. As I was told on another post, I paid for the whole bow.February 11, 2016 at 1:19 pm #12920

I also really like your tone. I would have liked to have seen a little more of your arm so that I could see what you are doing with your wrist when bowing. Perhaps stepping back just a wee bit from the camera to get that. Nice going though. Well done 🙂February 11, 2016 at 2:37 pm #12924
I wish I could Jewel, but my little 10′ X 10′ bed/office/media/library/practice room with the camera set up high and against the wall is as good as it gets. I’m already standing against the bed and I don’t think I could get by moving my stuff into the hallway. Trust me when I say that I could pass the “quarter test” with my right hand.February 11, 2016 at 2:41 pm #12926
I guess I could leave my head out of the next video. Then you could see more of my bow hand.February 18, 2016 at 3:24 pm #13411

Very nice, Will. You have given me something to aim for. That is what I would like to sound like when I play. Nice, relaxed, soothing. I know I am only a beginner, but seeing and hearing posts like this encourage me. Don’t stop posting!! You are helping this newbie fall in love with the violin!!February 18, 2016 at 3:43 pm #13412
Each player/violin combination has a different sound. That is just my “voice”, if you will. It helps if you have a good violin like the ones Michael sells and work toward your own particular voice. I listen to a lot of CDs with different violinists playing the same piece. Each one is different, i.e., unique to the player and their violin.
It does help to have a good violin and learn good technique.
So… keep practicing and find your voice.February 19, 2016 at 11:14 am #13435
