I am using the “All For Strings” Method book and wondered if anyone else is using this and what they think of it? Thanks!

Hi there, I have just started taking lessons and my teacher is using the All for Strings book. I like the systematic way the book introduces you to the notes and the short excercises to practise them. Although I am only just starting the left hand, this book is helping me to feel confident about my emerging ability. I hope you thoroughly enjoy working your way through the excercises!

Hi Kiwigirl, so far I am enjoying it as well. It’s the only violin method book I have had any exposure to. I am so nearsighted I had to take it to the copiers and blow the whole book up into 11″x14″ copies in order to read the music! So I had to add a cardboard extension to the music stand so the sheets don’t flop over backwards.

Hi Marlayum, I am so glad that you found a creative way to make the book work for you. Wouldn’t it be great if it came with a CD to hear how it’s supposed to sound? I’ve tried looking up videos on Youtube of people playing their way through the book, but could only find two and it’s waaaaay down the track from where I’m at. Happy Practising!

    Hi Kiwigirl,
I think somewhere on this forum is a topic where you can request some things to be played, but I may be wrong…I ask my teacher to play the songs he wants me to learn and record them on an app on my ipad and that has helped me somewhat. You are right, hearing it is SO important!
