A name unknown to me until last year when a neighbor told me that the names scratched into my patio concrete belonged to his children and that he was a very renown western swing violinist who won hundreds of championships and is enshrined into practically every fiddler’s hall of fame here in the U.S.
I’ve lived in this house of mine for 15 yrs. and never knew who any of the previous occupants were.
It seems that they moved away in the mid 60’s. Ironically, my neighbors across the street moved in right about that time and the mother played piano with many ‘old time musicians’ including a very young Mark O’Connor. She had never heard of Dick Barrett.
His bio can be found here: http://www.nationalfiddlerhalloffame.org/HallOfFame/dickbarrettbio.html
