I was wondering if somebody knew of any finger charts for two octave scales using 1st and 3rd position. I feel pretty comfortable with 1st position, but only recently began trying to figure out 3rd. I would like to begin going through the major scales in the two positions and I thought a chart with finger positions would be helpful.

I bought a book called Fingerboard Geography, hoping that would help but it didn’t. I’ve just been doing scales on one string shifting up as I go, playing slowly and saying the note nane as I go. That is helping a lot and I am making rapid progress.

Hi! I found this interesting iTunes app that looked like even the demo photos were helpful getting your fingers into 3rd position:

    Orchestral Strings Fingering Chart

Here’s the picture I found through a google search:

    I hope this helps!
