I am finding I have more trouble learning /playing practice lessons that I don’t recognize the song. ie. “Timber Ridge” is harder than “She Will Be Coming Round the Mountain” or “Good King Wenceslas ” I always was bad about reading music or timing. .

I think IF there was a mp3 for each piece to hear and practice with I have less trouble then again maybe not less.

I have tried using programs like “Crescendo” and its partner “Play Perfect Practice program” and still struggle more with songs I did not grow up with. I have been hand scoring the songs from your book into the programs so I could hear them and see it note by note. Seems I am a bit inflexible in my brain still yet. But in a year I bet these will not bother me as much.
