Great one Tracye! Having your instrument near heavy walking areas is a great one. I would suggest setting practice goals for yourself and trying to stick to it each week. Don’t set them too high, but just high enough to where you know you can achieve it consistently. See if you can achieve the goal at least 3/4 times. If you miss more than that, lower the goal down a bit until you consistently are able to meet your goal at least 3/4 times. The biggest thing with progressing on the violin is getting into a practice routine. Once you achieve that routine and you have good practice habits, you will progress very quickly.
