Hi Scott – I have a fiddle that was made in the 1960’s in Idaho by Hank Ramsey (he only made 33 from the research that I have found). Good sounding fiddle but being a beginner I had issues with the E string whistling and so I tried the Kaplan non whistling E with the rest of the strings being Zyex. I liked that combo but still wanted to try another type to maybe make my fiddle more mellow so I thought I would go with the Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Gold Violin String Set and the Kaplan non Whistling E since I seem too afraid to NOT put that non whistling E on, ha ha. I will also have the Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Gold Violin E string since it is a set so I might get brave and put that E on first and see how I like it but will have the Kaplan waiting in the wings in case I really start Whistling. Ha Ha. I should be getting them on Tuesday, and am excited to try them out.
