This may be a useful tip to beginners ( me being one of them) When it comes to keeping your thumb curved and not developing the habit of the “banana thumb” try putting a small piece of scotch tape across your thumb while its bent. It should help to keep you aware of your thumb ( just by being able to feel the tape on there) and if you pop it off then you know your extending your thumb and again, its making you more aware of your thumb. Hopefully it can help me and someone else be more conscience of our thumbs! Hope this is helpful 🙂
