This time around I’ve been playing for 22 years. I had started in fourth grade in my school music program in Seattle, and played through my senior year, but after I graduated I got married and started a family. Needless to say I didn’t play for a long time after that, between husband and kids, Scouts, Little League, etc., not to mention the fact that my husband was active duty Air Force and we moved a lot. But after he retired in 1994 I decided to pick it up again, took lessons, majored in it at Ball State University, although I didn’t finish due to MS. This past winter I was able to start again after a two year forced break in playing due to a tremor in my right hand which made it impossible to control the bow. That is now under control, and I am working on regaining technique that I lost after not playing for two years. I played with the Huntington (Indiana) University Chamber Orchestra this winter, and I’m looking forward to the fall season.
