My left finger numbness is on the side of the finger near where the finger touches the violin fingerboard at the bottom joint. The numbness doesn’t seem to be going away which is why I’m starting to concentrate on fixing the root cause.

I think it is possible that I do squeeze too tightly – especially when I have to reach to use my fourth finger on the G and D strings. I have tried the loose thumb trick and wasn’t able to do it consistently. I’ll try it again. I’m also going to head to a luthier in the next few days to see if there’s anything that I can adjust.

I do not play guitar – violin is the only instrument I play.
